Keeping yourself safe and respecting the environment and local communities are a shared responsibility.

Safety

Always let someone know your planned route and expected return time
Monitor weather forecasts — Gobi storms can arrive with little warning
If you break down or get lost, stay with your vehicle and contact locals

Environmental Respect

Pack out all waste — leave no trace
Do not disturb wildlife or pick plants
Open fires are only permitted in designated areas

Cultural Etiquette

Ask permission before photographing herder families or their gers
Accept offers of hospitality from nomadic families graciously
